Down There

Avey Tare, of the critically acclaimed eclectic trio Animal Collective, has recently released his own record entitled “Down There.” In recent interviews, Avey Tare explains his album is dark, centering on recent events in his life that have left him feeling depressed, dark, disturbed. The album cover’s centerpiece and inspiration is an alligator. Tare sees the alligator as a totemic, ancient symbol that is altogether patient and violent. Tare explains the album is best experienced in a pitch dark room, devoid of all light–

I recommend this album. If you like Animal Collective, or are looking for something off the radar, but not too off the radar, this is for you. Listen to Lucky 1 and listen for yourself–sd.
